Heart Center Non-Invasive Imaging Fellowship

The advanced fellowship program in non-invasive cardiac imaging at Boston Children’s Hospital has a 3 decade history of preparing pediatric cardiologists for an academic career in imaging congenital and pediatric heart disease. The program accepts 2-3 fellows each year into a clinical track or a research track. The 1-year clinical track aims to train imagers in echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal, intraoperative, and fetal) and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). The track is ideal for those interested in a career in congenital/pediatric cardiac imaging, including teaching and research. The time split between clinical and research activities is approximately 80% and 20%, respectively. The clinical time is divided roughly equally between modalities with some flexibility depending on individual interest and programmatic needs. Fellows engage in imaging-related clinical research and are expected to actively participate in teaching throughout the year.

The goal of the 2-year research track is to prepare fellows for a career that focuses on imaging-related research while engaging in advanced clinical imaging. During the 24-month training period, 60% of the time is dedicated to research and 40% to clinical training.

The senior non-invasive imaging fellows actively participate in daily didactic and clinical conferences, including an echo didactic conference (Monday), the Cardiovascular Program’s weekly medical/surgical conference (Tuesday), echo case presentation (Wednesday), CMR weekly conference (Thursday), and the fellowship core curriculum lecture series (Friday). In addition, senior fellows actively participate in the non-invasive M&M and research conference. To apply to the Non-invasive Imaging senior fellowship program, you may download application here.
